We are awash in a sea of information. You can spend the rest of your life learning about anything that interests you. But information isn’t action.
If you want to change something in your life or in the world, you have to act.
Thinking won’t make the change.
Reading won’t make the change.
Even planning won’t make the change.
Action makes change.
You may need information. You may need to read and think and plan. But don’t mistake these preliminaries for action.
Recognize when you are use learning and preparation as a form of procrastination. You don’t need to know everything before you start. Take action!
Every journey begins with one step. Take the first step. It doesn’t have to be a big step. But get moving!
What is the smallest thing you can do to move in the right direction? Do it.
Now do the the next thing. And the next.
Before you know it you are making real progress.
You want to climb a mountain? Reading about mountains won’t get you there. But walking might. Start walking.
Our ancestors walked thousands of miles, one step at a time. You can too. Start walking.
You say you aren’t strong enough? Don’t worry. You’ll get stronger on the journey.
You don’t know the way? Don’t worry. You’ll find sign posts along the road.
You don’t know what you’ll eat, where you’ll sleep, or what you’ll wear. That’s okay too. You’ll find resources once you’re moving.
